Baltic GPP
The Baltic GPP project will establish a wide capacity building program on Green Public Procurement (GPP) across the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). The overall aim is to increase the level and uptake of GPP in the entire region. This will be achieved by strengthening and developing the role of National Focal Points in each country as well as raising the knowledge and expertise within Core Procurement Institutions.

Electrical and electronic waste recycling in Kaliningrad
In the city of Kaliningrad management of electrical and electronic waste is a burning issue. The city council wants therefore to build a system for electrical and electronic waste collection and disposal. Since 2010, the German Federal Environment Ministry and the German Federal Environmental Agency support the Kaliningrad city administration. IFEU Iserlohn has developed various scenarios how to deal with electrical and electronic waste in a sustainable way in the future.

Miniwaste
Miniwaste is a three-year project (January 2010-December 2012), co-funded by the LIFE+ programme of the European Commission. It aims to demonstrate, in accordance with the recent Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC, that it is possible to significantly reduce the amount of organic waste (food and green waste) at the source in a mastered and sustainable way, and to monitor actions for waste reduction in an efficient and helpful manner.

Pre-waste
Pre-waste is a three-year European project (2010-2012) whose aim is to help cities and regions to improve their waste prevention policies, in order to significantly reduce waste production and hazardousness. The project will in particular deliver waste prevention best practices implemented in Europe, indicators and monitoring tools and guidelines for planning and implementing waste prevention programmes at local or regional level. Pre-waste is co-funded by the INTERREG IV C programme.

PURE (Project on Urban Reduction of Eutrophication)
The project PURE (Project on Urban Reduction of Eutrophication) implements one of the most cost effective and quickest ways to tackle eutrophication: it enhances phosphorus removal at selected municipal wastewater treatment plants in the Baltic Sea region. PURE partner water utilities aim to achieve an average annual concentration of 0.5 mg phosphorus / litre in outgoing wastewaters. This is the level recommended by the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan to reach a good environmental status of the sea. The project is co-financed by the Baltic Sea Region Program 2007-2013.

REMOWE – Regional Mobilizing of Sustainable Waste-to-Energy Production
REMOWE aims to contribute to a reduction of carbon dioxide emission by creating a balance between energy consumption and sustainable use of renewable energy sources in the Baltic Sea region. Project duration: December 2009 – December 2012. The project is financed by the Baltic Sea Region Programme.
The REMOWE project will focus on energy resources from waste and actions to promote implementation of energy efficient technology within the waste-to-energy area. The aim is to catalyse utilisation of waste from cities, farming and industry for energy purposes (electricity, heat, fuels) in an efficient way in the Baltic Sea region. Project partners from Sweden, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia and Germany represent both far developed regions in the field as well as regions in which the level of energy utilisation of waste is currently low. E.g. Germany possesses valuable experiences of producing biogas and these will be shared and transferred through this project to other regions.

The European Week for Waste Reduction
The EWWR is a three-year project supported by the LIFE+ Programme of the European Commission until end 2011. It aims to organise multiple actions during a single week, across Europe, that will raise awareness about waste prevention. During the 2009 and 2010 editions of the EWWR, more than 7000 awareness raising actions have been implemented in more than 20 countries. In 2011, the EWWR will take place between 19 and 27 November.

Waste Governance – European neighbourhood and partnership instrument (ENPI) East
To reduce the risk arising from inappropriate management of wastes in the ENPI East, that thereby create environmental pollution hazards to the community and to natural resources, through co-operation with, and amongst, partner states in the region of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine.

Waste to resources
The Waste to resources project aims at increasing the use of municipal solid waste as a resource in the South Baltic Sea Area. Householders and SME's awareness and acceptance of waste sorting along with the municipal capacity to handle waste, are crucial parts of a more efficient waste management. By developing best practices and transferring knowledge across borders the Waste to resources project will stimulate sorting of municipal solid waste and raise awareness of the EU five-step waste hierarchy.
