“Reco Baltic 21 Tech” (RB21T) is a flagship project under the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea region and has been awarded the Baltic 21 Lighthouse Project quality label by the CBSS (The Council of the Baltic Sea States) Expert Group on Sustainable Development – Baltic21.
The CBSS Expert Group on Sustainable Development - Baltic 21 provides a policy and project platform in the Baltic Sea region. On the project side, the CBSS Expert Group awards a number of region wide initiatives a special quality label – the Baltic 21 Lighthouse Project. The Lighthouse Projects are the most visible tool for demonstrating sustainable development in practice. Lighthouse Projects must conform to a set of criteria that specifically focuses on providing a value-added contribution to regional sustainability, as well as high visibility. Many of these projects, and several other activities outlined in this Strategy, are also mentioned as flagship projects in the Action Plan accompanying the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea region.
RB21T is one of many projects of the Baltic Sea Region Programme aiming to fulfill the aims of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea region. The overall objective of the project is to improve the local and regional capacity to apply the process of implementing waste management that supports the implementation of the EU Waste Management Directive, helping countries in the Baltic Sea region to address their problems with waste management and disposal.
Findings or outcomes of “Baltic 21 LHP” projects, will be transformed into general policy recommendations that can be applied in the Baltic Sea region and beyond, introduced and promoted on different political levels such as national governments, the European Commission and the United Nations.
