20 September 2011, Stockholm, Sweden
On the 20 of September a number of central projects with partners from as well as outside the Baltic Sea Region (BSR) were for the fist time in this programme period invited to IVL premises in Stockholm to cluster, exchange knowledge and to discuss on future co-operation.
Among the found connecting projects the following projects were represented: REMOWE, Prewaste, Waste to resources, Baltic 21 Eco-region, Bio Energy Promotion, Biogasbus, MARLIN, Euroslam, Innoheat, European week of waste reduction and Stardust. The following were also invited but could not participate: Pure, W2E – Waste to Energy, BaltActHaz, C2CN, Miniwaste, Green Cook and Ecoproject
All projects are in various ways working on the issue of waste management and the initiative to meet was very appreciated.
The RECO B21Tech project manager, Ms. Åsa Stenmarck explained that the intention was to avoid overlaps in works and to support the Interreg programme as well as the Baltic Sea Strategy by comprehension on project scope and needs.
Mr. Bo Löwendahl, the former programme development manager of the Interreg programmes in the BSR, who pointed out the importance of more intensive co-operation across programme and institutional structures, as e.g. the Baltic Strategy, made the introduction of the day. Ms Christina Skantze, Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth – Tillväxtverket, who talked about the programmes cluster-initiatives wishing for firmer involvements of additional countries in this work. She is welcoming further discussions initiatives on clusters also outside the programme structures.
The projects agreed on the magnitude of future co-operation and will continue this effort in a number of ways. Among other things the possibilities to develop a cluster on “efficient use of resources” will be evaluated. The importance of local connections was also stressed.
