Short descriptions of pilot projects of RECO Baltic 21 Tech

The project RECO Baltic 21 Tech aims to help decision makers at a local and regional level to optimise their waste management investments. A joint strategy for waste management will be developed to make use of best practices from national strategies. All together, the  project  contributes  towards  sustainable  waste management  by  putting  into  practice  a  systematic approach  and  providing  a  platform  that  enables more co-operation in the Baltic Sea region.

The art of Procurement in Waste management

24 January 2013 in Riga

The RECO Baltic 21 Tech workshop was held in the Valdemars Hotel in Riga, Latvia. The task of procurement is part of WP 4 and is supposed to assist selected Pilot Projects in WP 3 in the entire procurement process from designing a tender, evaluate proposals, selection of providers and drafting a contract in order to ensure that the investment is carried out correctly. The purpose of the workshop was one step to enhance the capacity for problem owners in the BSR to make and produce high quality and efficient procurement for faced investments.

Manager of RB21T met Ulf Dinkelspiel

Asa Stenmarck - Ulf DinkelspielThe RECO Baltic 21 Tech project manager Asa Stenmarck met with Ulf Dinkelspiel to inform him about the project. Mr. Dinkelspiel is the former Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Trade. In his conversation with Asa Stenmarck he said that "the RECO initiative is an important one for the Baltic Sea Region and has a great agenda to implement".

Baltic Sea Waste Management Conference and Council 2012

10 - 11 October 2012, Vilnius, Lithuania

The Conference on "Municipal Waste Management in the Baltic Sea Region: lessons learnt and next steps" and the Baltic Waste Management Council Meeting took place on 10 and 11 October 2012 in Vilnius, Lithuania. About 80 participants from Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Estonia and Belarus came to Vilnius to take part in the conference and discuss and exchange the waste management activities in the Baltic Sea Region. Through the active international exchange participants learned about the present situation of waste management in other countries and also about possible solutions for problems, which might be helpful in their home countries.

WAMPS – a software tool for waste management planning

A new flyer about WAMPS, the software tool for waste management planning of the RECO Baltic 21 Tech project, has been produced. The software, how it works and what results can be drawn from it is shortly described within the flyer. WAMPS will be available for public use in April 2013. The Baltic Sea Region Programme Conference 2012

19 - 20 September 2012, Lillestroem, Norway

The Baltic Sea Region Programme Conference 2012 has successfully been held in Lillestroem (Oslo region) on 19-20 September 2012. Around 400 participants were present during the launch of the conference and the exhibition.

Sustainable Energy for AllSustainable energy – energy that is accessible, cleaner and more efficient – powers opportunity. It grows economies. It lights up homes, schools and hospitals. It empowers women and local communities. And it paves a path out of poverty to greater prosperity for all. But nearly one in five people around the world do not have access to modern energy services. Twice that number, three billion people, rely on wood, coal, charcoal or animal waste for cooking and heating. In today's economy, this is inequitable – a major barrier to eradicating poverty. The energy future we need is one in which everyone has access to modern energy services, where energy resources are used more efficiently, and where countries increasingly invest in renewable sources.
